Re-shape
The next step is to re-design the identified problems.
Situational Approach:
Re-design and start to implement targeted solutions that directly address the problems identified in Phase 1. This phase is about translating the initial plans into concrete sub-projects and actions, and ensuring everyone is aligned with the objectives.
Process Improvement:
Refine and redesign processes to reduce waste and increase efficiency. This involves implementing Lean tools and techniques such as 5S, SMED, and Just-in-time production to open up bottlenecks and streamline workflows.
Capability Development:
Conduct intensive training programs to equip the team with the necessary skills to support the new processes. This may include hands-on workshops, introducing a competence matrix, setting a training process and training plans.
Lean Management System:
Develop and document standard work procedures to ensure consistency and reliability in the new processes. Leaders play a crucial role in monitoring adherence to these standards and facilitating problem-solving when deviations occur.
Basic Lean Thinking:
Reinforce the culture of continuous improvement by encouraging team members to identify and suggest further improvements. Also promote Andon-thinking, learning to see and act on deviations. Promote a mindset where feedback is valued, and small, incremental changes are celebrated.
